This error happens when the installation program cannot change the IIS application pool to Classic. This can happen because of IIS permission, locking and other reasons. To solve this:

  1. Bring up the IIS Manager from the Administrative Tools

  2. Navigate to the OfficeClip web site (or web application)

  3. In IIS 7 and higher click on Basic Settings... and change the Application Pool to Classic 4.0 mode
