Some of our enterprise customers wants to run our new release on a staging server before putting it on production. A typical scenario can be: - A stable version in the production and
- A more recent release on the test server
To upgrade the staging server with the production database, do the following:
- Make a backup of the production database. You can do the database back using the OfficeClip supplied tool OfficeClip.Tools.OCBackupGUI.exe (available in 7.7.8 and higher) in the installed folder (or use Sql Management Studio Express).
- Restore this backup on the staging environment (using the same tool as above)
- Start OfficeClip on the staging server, it should automatically upgrade the database.
To upgrade the production database to the following: A. Automated Installation - Make a backup copy of the database in the production server, also make a backup of the installation folder in the production server
- Bring down the production server so that nobody can access it
- Upgrade OfficeClip on the production server (to the same version as in the staging server)
- Run OfficeClip to upgrade the database
B. Manual Installation - Make a backup copy of the database in the production server, also make a backup of the installation folder in the production server
- Bring down the production server so that nobody can access it
- Copy the OfficeClip installation folder from the staging server to the production server
- Run OfficeClip to upgrade the database
If there are issues restore the previous files and database on the production server and contact OfficeClip
