Hi all, Did anybody find the instructions on how to update from 6.9 versions of OfficeClip to the current release stream? Hint: Just installing (as the release notes say) does not work ... At least not for me :-) Thanks, Tom

The 6.9.9 version of OfficeClip has been replaced by 7.x and 8.x releases since the end of 2006. We have an upgrade program to upgrade OfficeClip to the latest edition. Please note that because the OfficeClip database is changed a lot during this period, we cannot guarantee that it will be seamless. Please contact us if you need upgrade support. Free upgrade support is available to all customers (as long as the renewal fees is paid every year). Follow these instructions if you want to try doing the upgrade yourself: - Install the latest version of OfficeClip on the same machine (where 6.9.9 is installed) and test to make sure that it works.
- Take a backup of the existing database (6.9.9 database).
- Run c:\program files\officeclip\8\OfficeClip.Install.OcdbUpgrader.exe and fill in the required parameters.
- Check the latest log file in c:\program files\officeclip\8\log folder to see if there is any errors.
- Try logging in to the new OfficeClip with the same credentials of old OfficeClip.
- Request license from OfficeClip (from ocsupport at officeclip dot com).
- Contact us (at ocsupport at officeclip dot com) if there is any issues with the installation.

Thanks for the quick reply SK. skdutta wrote:- Install the latest version of OfficeClip on the same machine (where 6.9.9 is installed) and test to make sure that it works.
...
When I did this, I found that - IIS complained about only being able to run ASP.NET in either version 1.x (for 6.9.9) or 2.x (for 8.1) and
- that the install program overwrote the virtual directory for /OfficeClip
Which was somewhat unsettling. Is this what you would expect? Tom

Tom We are using the same virtual directory for both versions, new installation automatically overwrites the virtual directory, we did not really work on fixing it as we finished upgrades to most of our customers long time ago. Please check the following: After installing the new version: - Go to Control Panel > Administrative tools > Internet Information Services
- Right click on the virtual directory called OfficeClip
- Make sure that it points to the new OfficeClip folder (c:\program files\officeclip\7\officeclip)
- Click on the tab ASP.NET and make sure that it shows 2.0
- Also make sure under directory security, Anonymous Authentication is checked and Integrated Windows Authentication is checked.
Finally run https://<your-machine-name>/officeclip/systemtest.aspx to make sure that it works alright. If you want to get back to the previous version of OfficeClip, just change back the location to the old officeclip folder (c:\program files\officeclip\officeclip) Edited by user Sunday, June 28, 2009 12:34:19 PM(UTC)
